I did this more so for fun than for it actually being practical use.. but it was def very cool and interesting, just a refresher I took a USB cable and plugged it into other things with a USB port to see if it would power the GameBoy, both on and off. Here’s what I tried and what worked and didn’t work
Lenovo laptop - on and off Asus laptop - on (don’t think BIOS supports it) Acer Chromebook - on (don’t buy a Chromebook they suck) PS2 - on PS3 - on Sanyo TV - on Desk lamp with USB port - on and off Sony Blu-ray Player - didn’t work on or off Nintendo Switch - on and off Verizon FIOS Box - It’s always on but it works
Oh also they worked through the laptops when they were on battery as well so that’s pretty nice
I wonder what else I could try.. again this was more so for fun than being practical but it’s good to know if you happen to be next to a power source and wanna play!
Oh small note, this wasn’t the USB cable I used but my lamps power brick, when I plugged the adapter for the GBC into it it fried my backlight. Which sucked lol. But that wasn’t with the USB cable so I’m pretty sure that one is safe to use. I’m only mentioning it as a word of caution to mess with things you’re “not supposed toâ€
Hope you found this interesting, have a good day/night friends

Continuation of my previous post about powering GBC from power bank
[Released: 1998] As suggested by the name, features a color screen. It is slightly thicker and taller than the Game Boy Pocket, which is a redesigned Game Boy released in 1996. As with the original Game Boy, it has an 8-bit processor and the custom Zilog Z80 central processing unit.
