Storage Space on old PS3

SO I want to play God of War Ascension on an old PS3 I picked up. Only Single player obviously. And I've only got 62gb/74gb free. Pretty sure the only other things I have on here is Metal Gear Solid 1. But the playstation store version is on sale and just wont fit cause you need 75gb free to download it. My question is if I went out and got the disc version would I be able to play it or not? Like would having the disc lower the space it takes up?
