PSP 1000 batteries won't charge in my PSP 3003.

Hello, this is my first post on here (and on reddit)
I have a white PSP 3000 that I bought recently to replace my permanently broken 1000.
Over the years I've accumulated 3 genuine PSP 1000 1800 mah batteries and I was under the impression that psp 1000 batteries would work in a 3000 before I bought one.
When I got mine however , none of the three 1000 batteries would charge in the 3000. The battery percentage just sits at 0% no matter how long I left it in for.
The battery that came with the 3000 charges fine, so what's the issue? I read several forum posts and even some posts from here said that this would be possible.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
