Dashboard shortcut with a MadCatz controller resets my dashboard

As if we needed another reason to diss MadCatz lol. I’m using XBMC Emustation, and like most dashboards, you can reboot by pressing L+R+Back+Black. I’ve done this countless times with no problems.
Recently I acquired some wireless MadCatz controllers. When I use the shortcut, it reboots the dash but also displays a message I’d never seen before. Couldn’t take a pic, but it basically said “User Data deletion detected, press A to proceed, press anything else to cancelâ€￾.
I pressed B to cancel, but it still reset my dash. I got the first time welcome screen, and all my games were gone. Fortunately they weren’t actually deleted, they just need to be rescanned when this happens. But rescanning 2000+ games takes forever.
Why does this happen?
