How To Find Red Dot Of Death

My Xbox 360 S has the red dot (not ring) death. The power adapter has an orange light next to it. My Xbox can turn on for 15 seconds before shutting down and the red dot of death showing up. Does anyone know what to do? Do I have to get a new one?
