Restoring a Williams Joust Cocktail

Post by KLOV »

Here's my next restoration project ... a Joust cocktail. Proably my favorite game of all time. Sadly, it was converted into a multicade and holes for extra button were drilled into the CP. Not sure how to deal with that. Anyone have any ideas? The plexi tops look original but I'm unsure how they come off.

The insides have the CRT monitor with a little burn-in but not visible through the tinted glass top. The harness seems to be intact but have noticed a few wires have been cut and re-routed. Whoever connected the 19-in-1 multiboard at least had the good sense not to hack up the original harness too badly. The original transformer is there and was used to power the CRT.

Issues I found that need restoring ...
- chipping at the bottom edges of the cabinet closest to the floor
- cigarette burns on the top of the cabinet between player 1 & 2
- extra holes drilled into player 1 & 2 control panels

Parts missing that I need to find ...
- Joust CPU/ROM/sound/power boards
- Joust-colored joystick shafts
- Joust-colored flap buttons
- Control panel overlays ???
- Matching veneer/formica/vinyl
