Question about EU vs US editions of SNES Classic.

Hey folks, so the wife is getting me a SNES Classic for Xmas, but I have a choice between the US and EU editions. I'm in Canada so grew up with the US version, but I personally like the looks of the EU version better. I plan on using this hackchi program to mod the system, so if I buy the EU version, can I mod it with NTSC games or would I be restricted to PAL? Will it even be compatible? Sorry, I did some searching online but couldn't find an answer. Hope you guys can help. Thanks!
