Wii vs Gamecube

I am looking toward getting a console that can play Gamecube games. I was wondering if I should get a GameCube or a Wii. I already have a Wii U, so playing Wii games doesn’t matter to me. What are the benifits of the Gamecube over the Wii and the Wii over the Gamecube? Please let me know. Which is better overall?
