Dreamcast VMU emulation

If this has been answered then feel free to delete this but I really couldn't find a solid answer anywhere.

I want to get into emulation where I play all of my games on my TV with controllers that are as close to the original consoles as possible. However when it comes to the Dreamcast the VMU is a must have for the true experience in my opinion so I was wondering if there's any way I can play dreamcast games via emulation on a TV with the Retro Fighters controller(or whatever really) with full VMU support? I have no issues using a real VMU.
