PS3 back compat has a disc issue

Disc goes almost all the way in (you can still see a little bit of it) and drive sounds as if it’s spinning up (even before I insert the disc). It almost seems to me that something is stuck inside. Any help is appreciated. I’m really hoping this isn’t a “replace the whole console” situation, but any help at all is appreciated.
