Seamless Video Looping

This question has been asked and answered several times over the years, but I do not think that most of the answers work anymore. I am currently using a service to automatically launch VLC to loop a video on full screen, but there is a 1 second gap where the VLC controls come up, and the screen is black before starting the video again.

I would like to loop a simple video seamlessly. Doesn’t seem like it should be this hard to do. VLC has the aforementioned glitch. Omxplayer is deprecated. Adafruit’s video looper doesn’t run on newer Pi’s.

Does anyone know of a good solution for this? Thanks!
