Can I clean the discs with IPA 50-70%?

Hey guys just checking if there's any reason why I should not use alcohol to clean the discs? My dreamcast won't read some games unless I'm in the main menu/home menu and close the lid right before it clicks which gets the game spinning. I then raise the lid again and lower it again two more times to get the disc spinning fast and that usually does it. I want to clean those games to see if it fixes the issue. Thanks in advance
