Sorry I forgot to add that the damper diode (upper part of D502) would need its anode (middle pin) connected to ground to work as a switch in the horizontal circuit along with the HOT. When left disconnected the pulse from the HOT was sent through the EW circuit and J433 is in series with it so it blew (Q508 would have blown too had it been there). Hopefully it didn't reach U450 etc. Replace resistor, check diode and HOT.
