Removing Applications

I am newer to Pi in terms of more complex tasks. If one is to install something on the Pi, is there a way to remove it easily including all supported files? Or to see all files on the Pi and understand what can be removed?

I feel like every time I install something and it doesn't work I need to start from scratch to know there's no residual files on the system and there has to be a way to do it differently.
