RPi os lite versus RPi os desktop with gui disabled, are they basically the same?

The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card-sized single-board computers developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries.

RPi os lite versus RPi os desktop with gui disabled, are they basically the same?

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I have a simple setup with a pi, a nice alfa wireless adapter, and ethernet to supply my Xbox with a faster connection. I ended up just using the desktop version cause I needed to switch to NetworkManager to force the wireless adapter to connect to the 5GHz and not 2.4 and I kept running into problems trying to configure NetworkManager with the lite os. But when I got it all working I just disabled the gui.

So my question is, if the pi is gonna run headless in the background while I game, would it be better to try to make it work with the lite os, or does it even matter?
