is there supposed to be a brown, foggy-looking spot on the laser eye of my ps2 slim?

as the title says, i suspect its the reason why my ps2 cant read disc. already tried cleaning it

EDIT: turns out there were a few scratches alreayd on the laser, and it looks like the brown spot was actually a worn down laser eye. so i just destroyed the eye
