Friends disappearing from my friends list

Friends disappearing from my friends list

I usually have around 20 friends on my friends list but suddenly today when I went to check my friends list there’s only 4 profiles that show up, and it’s the same across anything related to friends on Xbox. How is this possible? What actually happened?
