Upscaling Issues

Post by /n64 »

Hi all - was hoping to get my N64 up and running. but having some issues with my newer HD TVs (TCLs, last few years).
I went to the local gaming store, and they suggested the Old SKool AV to HDMI converter, said it would do the trick for $20. They had a more expensive device they said I probably wouldn't need.
Okay, hook it up, no dice - no signal found.
So I understand the issue to be upscaling - TV doesn't recognize/pick up the N4 output.
Okay, get the mClassic. Hook that up. Same issue.
So, what am I missing here? Or is it more likely the N64 itself if this isn't working?
