Can I use a psp as a card reader?

Can I use a psp as a card reader?

I want to transfer some files from a Pro duo memory stick to a pc. If I put it in a psp and plug it into the pc, will I be able to transfer files? I wanted to ask in case theres any chance of the psp reformatting the card and making the files unreadable.
