Will this plan work?

Friend has a PS2. I have a PS2. (Same model.)
The Plan: I have a FreeMcBoot card which I can copy to another card to give to Friend. I install a hard drive in my PS2 using one of the SATA HD interfaces I see on Amazon. I install games onto the PS2 hard drive and test to make sure they work. I remove the HD interface, HD, and FreeMcBoot card from my PS2, go to Friend's house, and install those pieces in Friend's PS2.
Will this work as expected, with Friend being able to play the games and otherwise use the HD that was set up in a different PS2? Or do I need to actually set up everything on Friend's PS2?
