Strange problem with game save

I've got a weird issue with one game save on my Xbox. I'm softmodded with Rocky5's mod running UnleashX. Whenever I go into the saves manager and highlight my Project Gotham Racing 2 profile (without pressing any buttons), it automatically launches the game. However, it won't actually open the game unless the disc is in the tray; it will soft restart the system if it tries to open it from the HDD. I can run the game from HDD with no problems if I select it from the Games menu.
The game runs fine, whether from disc or HDD, and loads my profile so it's not a huge deal, but I'd like to figure out what's causing it. It doesn't happen if I open the stock dashboard and go to the save menu so it must be something in the softmod.
Has anyone else experienced this before? What might be the root of this glitch?
