Softmodded Xbox not detecting burned discs

My 1.0 Xbox is softmodded and I have soldered the points for TSOP flash (I am 80% sure I soldered it correctly), I did not test burned discs before I did the soldering, but my Xbox will not read my burned disc with Hexen, when I put it in the console I hear a mechanical shick shick shicking sound, but regular game discs still work fine.
This is the disc I used: Maxell 638006 DVD-R 4.7 Gb, I used my 2010 MacBook Pro to burn the Hexen ISO onto the disc; Did I miss any steps? Are my discs not the right ones? am I ever gonna do anything right when modding my Xbox :,(
Also wanted to add that the laser assembly in my Phillips drive is brand new, did not touch the pots on that at all when I was replacing the old laser assembly.
Edit: Is it possible to load Hexen over FTP?
