I want to buy a second-hand Gamecube, and I have no idea how to test it

[Released: 2001] The GameCube, with the Game Boy Player attachment, it is able to play Game Boy/Color, and Game Boy Advance titles. It's successor, the Wii, supports backward compatibility. Panasonic released a DVD player hybrid Gamecube.

Hi guys! I just found a Gamecube for 40EUR (console, one controller + cables), and I'm not sure what should I test before buying it. Which are the main things I should be careful with? Also, I'd like to mod the console, so should I look for a specific model?
