Is it possible for a loose power cord to fry your xbox?

Is it possible for a loose power cord to fry your xbox?

Got my xbox out of my closet yesterday and went to power it on and nothing happens unplug everything and plug it back in still nothing flip it around to make sure the contacts are clean and smell something fried. Has anyone else had this happen?
