How hard is it to play Japanese games without knowing Japanese?

How hard is it to play Japanese games without knowing Japanese?

I’m interested in trying Sin & Punishment, Custom Robo, and Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O. Will I have issues without knowing Japanese? Also, will these work on my North American console?
