Would this setup work as a basic light plex server and torrent box?

Trying to turn my raspberry pi 4 into a plex server and torrent box. Theres a lot of different things out there and names I do not understand and things people talk about such as docker and portainer. Would a set up of just a VPN+Plex+Transmission get the job done? I'm not looking for a powerful home theatre set up here, it'll only be me using it on my TV. Are there any other programs or software I need to have for this to work? I know about radarr and sonarr and would like to use them however I need to understand the basics i feel before I start getting fancy with those.
Anything I should add, or would this system of vpn, plex, and transmission work? Also, would I have to manually move files from transmission to plex or can I automate this?
