RPi Audio Logger Help

I’m looking for a way to limit the amount of time a microphone logs audio. It is a field recorder that logs different sounds in nature. However, it only needs to record during a certain part of the day (for several hours). As of now, it records for 24 hours a day, which makes sifting through recordings much more tedious. Is there a way to limit recording time? This system is programmed with Python, so I figure it is possible, but haven’t been able to find anything on it.
