New to the RPG genre... any suggestions?

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

I have never really taken the time to get into the realm of RPG games. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good game to start with? I really don't have a clue, but I do want to give it a try.
