How to connect external HDD

So recently i bought an external HDD case that has USB 2.0 port. i formatted my HDD 500 GB to FAT32 but sadly it didnt work. i can see the light of the HDD case being on but the playstation doesnt boot me into Autobleem. any solutions ? appreciate your help and thanks in advance

NOTE: i am on latest Autobleem 0.9.0 version with updated kernal that is supposed to read 2.0/3.0 USB thumb drives
