I know it's silly question, but why did Sony not include a CD drive ?

Seriously, a lot of Sony gamers still have the original CD of their childhood games and wanna play them again.
Why didn't Sony added CD drive into PSC ? Hacking PSC and adding new games is just pain in the ass and tiresome !!
