Sonic 2 PAL at 60Hz... Why the difference? Should I get an NTSC cartridge?

[Released: 1985] One of the most unusual features of the Sega Master System is its dual media inputs: one cartridge slot and one card slot. The card slot accepted small cards about the size of a credit card.

Sonic 2 PAL at 60Hz... Why the difference? Should I get an NTSC cartridge?

Post by /markiiisystem »

So, from what I can gather, Sonic 2 is one of the few games on the list that won't run correctly in certain places at 60Hz if it's a PAL cartridge. Now, I was under the impression that all cartridges were universal since the Master System is region-free. So, would an NTSC cartridge run fine on a 60Hz PAL console? Would it just be as simple as buying that version?
I don't own a Master System (yet), but Sonic 2 was definitely one of the games I was thinking of getting, so it'd be nice to know more about it beforehand.
I looked at this list here: https://www.smspower.org/Tags/PALOnly
