Is it a good idea to buy a OG 3DS for $50

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

I'm looking to buy a 3DS for my friend who is a huge Nintendo fan but I'm kind of short on money so I need to buy a used one. I saw a OG 3ds on ebay. Should I pull the trigger or do you guys know a place where I can buy one for cheaper? Also I don't live in USA.
