Kinda disappointed in the TG16 mini build.

Loving the interface, games and controller quality, but I have to admit they made a couple of design decisions I don’t like, most notably on the rear of the console.
I love that the rear cover is removable, but they also recreated the cord locations and cable routing - which crimps the cables and makes it harder to connect up than any other mini - which is a pain for me because I like to “hot swapâ€￾ my minis to play whatever strikes my fancy, rather than have them all connected at once. Since it’s all hidden from view anyways, I wish they just lined up the ports with the holes and made it a straight and spacious connection.
Also, it’s too big. Half the appeal of the licenced minis compared to just running an emulation box is the shelf-candy appeal, and it looks out of place next to the others. Even Atgames course corrected their Atari Flashback builds with the X to be in scale with the others.
Not deal breakers and I’m grateful this even came out - but just putting it put there because to my knowledge neither the PCE mini or Core mini has these concerns - so maybe that’s a better purchase for someone reading this who cares a lot about the aesthetics. For me, I don’t have any nostalgia for those systems - so I’ll live with the TG16 build.
So I’m not ending in negativity, I love how they recreated the sound of the Turbo-CD spinning up when loading a CD game. Makes me smile everytime.
