New 3ds xl crashes every 8 hours

Heyya! I recently bought a used N3DS XL to play Xenoblade. The thing is, at one point (?8 hours of game, according to my save files), the console suddenly turned off. I turned it on again, everything worked fine so no problem. But it happened again (? 16 hours). Is that common? I'ts not that big of a deal for me if it doesn't damage the system, but still, I want to know more about that. I guess turning it off myself from time to time would help...
Btw, the internal clock went back to 0:00 after each crash. I don't know if it means anything.
