GameCube controller unresponsive?

Hi guys, I’m playing Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (GC) on my Wii and my character just suddenly stopped responding to my controller right after I entered an event. I’m not sure if it’s a game glitch, seeing as the graphics are still moving and the music is still playing, or a controller thing, but I REALLY don’t want to reset my game since I haven’t saved in a while... anyone know how to debug this?
