Help - 2DS Blinking charging light then light turns off after about 5 seconds

I recently bought a broken 2DS to try repair. It appears to be dropped. I opened it up and cannot see anything visibly wrong with the motherboard. When the charger is plugged in the orange charging light blinks for about 5 seconds and turns off. The console won't turn on and no other lights turn on. I've removed the battery and tried to start it using just the charger with the same result. There is no game or SD card in the console. I've tested the charger on another console and verified it's working correctly.
I've found similar reports of people with this issue on 2DS and some 3DS consoles but there isn't any solid information on how to fix it (if any at all). If you suspect you might know what's wrong or how to fix it please let me know. Thanks!
