Start and Select buttons need a lot of pressure to register

Hello, I've recently got into the Metal Gear series, and I've bought a ps3 specifically for mgs 4. As the title says, i have to press hard on the start and select buttons for them to register (the ps button has this as well, but not to the same degree). It's manageable, but not ideal obviously.

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to at least treat the issue? Or do I just have to try and seek out another controller? I might just have a dualshock 4 connected for whenever I need those 2 buttons, haha. Thanks in advance.
