Color problem on LED matrix

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question but I have no clue where to ask.

I am using

- Raspberry Pi 4

- Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT

- 5V/4A power supply

- Waveshare RGB-Matrix-P3-64x32

The Problem:

I am currently working on a project including an LED matrix and encountered the following problem. While I can display images and animations otherwise without problems the color seems to be off. I don't really know how to describe the problem, but the subpixel don't seem to 'add' to the color they are supposed to be.

e.g.:

Here is the image I wanted to display as a test:

It is a simple white background with pink lines.

And here is what it looks like on the matix:

The camera fuses the colors a bit more, but the 'pink' pixel look more like blue and red. The same goes for other colors.

Here the line between red and blue is supposed to be pink and the line between green and red is supposed to be yellow:

What I have done so far:

- Using a different power supply.

- Added the noflicker fix mentioned in the github documentation (helped with flickering)

- Tried different options in software.

Maybe someone here has experience with the same matrix and can tell me if it is supposed to look this bad. In that case I would just upgrade to a more expensive matrix.
