Will Majora's Mask 3D work on New 2DS XL?

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

Will Majora's Mask 3D work on New 2DS XL?

Hey guys, I'm super new to 3DS/2DS. So I found the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D on eBay. Couldn't find the regional information at first, so I asked the seller about the region and if the game would work on my New 2DS XL (PAL).
And his reply was: "No. I'm sorry. This game will only work on a 3DS. There is no majora's mask game for the 2DS."
Is that true? Or maybe he just confuses 2DS with DS like many other people do?
