3.6v 2600mah battery pack dies in 5 minutes

Hey there. Need advice.
Bought 3006 of the local store. In relatively good shape. When playing with the charger in, all was good. I play from UMDs.
When returned home, charged it for around 3-4 hours and turned out it lasts around 5-10 minutes after that before shutting down in the middle of the game.
I tested this multiple times and I assume that either the battery is hecked up, or the voltage is not enough.
I also heard it might be cause of not full connection of the battery and put a piece of paper underneath so connection was solid - no difference.
Please advice.
