Xbox app for pc forcing me to use a controller

Why is Xbox app for PC forcing me to use a controller when I have a mouse and keyboard connected to my PC. Whenever I try to load up games it makes me connect a controller in order to play and also loads up the xbox version of the game in terms of graphics and such. Please give suggestions on how to fix.
