Files are constantly being corrupted

Files are constantly being corrupted

I have been playing a ton of MVP 05 recently and have been playing an owner mode. I have lost I think 3 owner modes at this point forcing me to start over. Even when saving it to 4 different files for back up one time they were all corrupted.
Is there something I can do to prevent this going forward? Is this a memory card problem? A game cube problem?
For background I use a GameCube from back in the day that I had when I was young so it is old
