can't mod pal scph-50002

I recently brought a ps2 and I have been trying to mod it. I started with freedvdboot with no luck so I brought a network adapter. I've followed numerous tutorials with one being the noobie package showing the freemcboot screen but after two minutes it takes me to the memory card screen and no mod. Another one takes me to the file browser but my usb show up as empty
