Can I use a Japanese GB Player Disc on a US GameCube?

[Released: 2001] The GameCube, with the Game Boy Player attachment, it is able to play Game Boy/Color, and Game Boy Advance titles. It's successor, the Wii, supports backward compatibility. Panasonic released a DVD player hybrid Gamecube.

Can I use a Japanese GB Player Disc on a US GameCube?

Post by /gamecube »

The title. Got a GameCube that came with a GB Player recently, but it did not come with the disc - which the seller did mention, up until seeing the listing I didn't even know it needed a disc. I figured it would be easy to get the disc separately. Boy was I wrong, as most listings have the disc alone for well over $100, nevermind the player and the disc.
Recently though, I started seeing listings for Japanese copies of the disc that are much more affordable. I know the GameCube is region locked, so I was wanting to know if this would work? I would be using a US GameCube, a US GB Player, and US GBA games. The only thing Japanese would be the disc. Thanks for the help!
