Realistically, how much longer can the console continue to function as they age?

Cartridge based systems might have an edge on disc based systems when it comes to hardware longevity, but far could we reasonably expect them to last?
Assuming the hardware and it's power adapter is kept in appropriately de-humidified, temperature stable environment how long can a system be preserved?
