Do PAL (Europe, Australia) SNES controllers work on a North American (US, Canada) SNES/SNES Jr console?

[Released: 1990] The SNES was the best-selling console of the 16-bit era despite its relatively late start and the fierce competition it faced. The console was able to run some of the first three-dimensional video games on consoles, beginning with Star Fox.

Do PAL (Europe, Australia) SNES controllers work on a North American (US, Canada) SNES/SNES Jr console?

I live in a PAL region, have a PAL SNES with those controllers with the yellow, green, blue and red buttons. I recently bought an NTSC US copy of Donkey Kong Country and I'm now thinking about getting a North American SNES or SNES Jr. Will my controllers for PAL SNES work on a NA console even though they have the same ports to plug them into (in case the controllers have some secret region locking or something like that)
