Is there an "Ultimate" cartridge cleaning guide?

[Released: 1990] The SNES was the best-selling console of the 16-bit era despite its relatively late start and the fierce competition it faced. The console was able to run some of the first three-dimensional video games on consoles, beginning with Star Fox.

Is there an "Ultimate" cartridge cleaning guide?

I've always just clean the pins with 70% rubbing alcohol and some q tips but I've seen people use 99% alcohol, some sort of paste, opening up the cartridge, etc.
Is there a definitive guide line to follow to both clean the cartridge but also make them last longer and possibly run smoother (not the actual game but just the booting up)?
