(HELP) SEGA Genesis model 1 crashing after "SEGA" logo, skipping "produced and licensed by sega" screen

[Released: 1988] The Sega Genesis was Sega's most successful console; though Sega has never released a total sales figure quote. Several add-ons were created including the Sega CD and Sega 32X which extended its capabilities.

(HELP) SEGA Genesis model 1 crashing after "SEGA" logo, skipping "produced and licensed by sega" screen

My friend and I bought a Genesis model 1 (non "High Definition graphics" model) and it appears to have something wrong. It is a model that is "supposed" to have the legal disclaimer boot screen, however it does not.
Upon testing Sonic 1, it skips to the "SEGA" screen, glitches out differently each time, and then crashes to black, not loading the game. Audio is seemingly random, sometimes existing, sometimes not. Can anyone give advice?
The board is not damaged anywhere, and we cleaned it thoroughly to ensure such, still it has the same issue. We are looking to repair this Genesis.
