Retro-Bit Genesis controller not working with MK1

[Released: 1988] The Sega Genesis was Sega's most successful console; though Sega has never released a total sales figure quote. Several add-ons were created including the Sega CD and Sega 32X which extended its capabilities.

Retro-Bit Genesis controller not working with MK1

I have a Genesis controller from Retro-Bit (The one used for the Genesis console) and it works with all games but Mortal Kombat. The C button does not work and sometimes the character will hold down block all the time without stopping. I don’t know what I should fault. The console, the controller, or the game. Can you guys please help me with this?
