My flash drive died mid-mod - now what?

I was following along with a YouTube video, using an old and fairly beat Sandisk Cruzer Glide 32GB. The first part went smooth, but after backing up the contents of the drive, I was unable to format it again to finish the Project Eris install. I tried doing it w/ the regular windows tool, cmd, and MiniTool, but nothing could salvage it.
I ordered an 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade to hopefully finish the up, but the PSC doesn't recognize it.
Do I just need to get another USB, or did did I do some kind of damage? Thanks
